Primus Solicitors is a national law firm. We act for clients across the UK from our Manchester office, by phone, video or in person. A no win no fee agreement (a conditional fee agreement) lets you bring a personal injury claim without paying anything up front and without paying our fees if the claim fails.

How it works

  • No upfront costs. We assess your claim free of charge and, if we take it on, you pay nothing while it runs.
  • If you lose, you pay nothing for our fees. An insurance policy, taken out at the start in most cases, covers the other side's costs and expenses such as medical reports and court fees, and you only pay its premium if you win.
  • If you win, the other side pays most of our fees. You pay a success fee from your compensation: a fixed percentage agreed in writing at the start, usually around 25%. The percentage never changes once agreed.
  • Everything in writing before you sign, in plain English, including the percentage, the insurance and what would happen if you ended the agreement early.

What we offer it for

Injury at work, injury in a public place, road traffic accidents and other injuries caused by someone else's negligence, where our assessment shows a reasonable prospect of success. Employment claims are considered case by case.

Other ways to fund a claim

  • Legal expenses insurance attached to home, motor or credit-card policies: check before you sign anything.
  • Trade union legal schemes.
  • Paying privately by the hour: see our fees page.

Questions people ask

What are the catches?

The agreement has conditions: tell us the truth, cooperate with the claim and do not settle behind our backs. Break them and you can become liable for costs. Otherwise there are none.

What is the time limit?

Three years from the accident or the date you knew the injury was caused by someone else, with exceptions for children and some accidents abroad. Start early.

How much will the solicitor get if I win?

Most of our costs are paid by the losing side. From your compensation you pay only the agreed success fee (a fixed percentage, usually around 25%) and the insurance premium, both set out before you start.
