Primus Solicitors Limited (company number 10999760, registered office First Floor, 402 Palatine Road, Northenden, Manchester M22 4FZ) is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. Questions about this policy: info@primussolicitors.com or 0161 222 5860.

Information we collect

  • When you make an enquiry by the website form, email, phone or WhatsApp: your name, contact details, the type of matter, what you tell us about your situation, the page of this site you enquired from and, if you arrived from an advert or search, the campaign reference.
  • When you become a client: identity and address documents, immigration history and documents, financial information needed for your application or for legal aid, information about your family, health information where it is relevant to your case, and correspondence with you and with third parties about your matter.
  • When you use this site: technical information such as your IP address, browser and pages viewed, and, only if you accept, analytics and advertising cookies (see our cookie policy).

How we use it and the lawful basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and advise you: steps before entering a contract, and then performance of the contract once you instruct us.
  • To run your case, including submitting applications and representing you before the Home Office, tribunals and courts: performance of the contract and our legitimate interests in providing legal services. Where we process special category data (for example health, ethnicity or religion where it bears on an asylum or human rights claim), we rely on the condition for legal claims and legal advice.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including client identification, anti-money-laundering checks, Legal Aid Agency requirements and SRA rules: legal obligation.
  • To record where enquiries come from so we can see which pages and adverts bring people to us: our legitimate interests. This uses the page and campaign reference only; it does not involve cookies unless you have accepted them.
  • To send you information about our services you have asked for: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

Only as needed for your matter or as the law requires: the Home Office and UK Visas and Immigration, tribunals and courts, barristers and experts we instruct for you, interpreters and translators, the Legal Aid Agency where you are legally aided, our professional indemnity insurers and regulators, and the IT and email providers that host our systems. Website enquiries are delivered to us by email and recorded in a secure log held on Google's cloud services under our account; we do not sell or share enquiry information with anyone else.

Where it is stored

Our case files and email are held on servers in the UK and the European Economic Area or with providers that apply the UK's international transfer safeguards. Website enquiries pass through Cloudflare's network and Google's services, which have appropriate safeguards in place for international transfers.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become a matter: 12 months, then deleted. Client files: six years after the matter closes, as our regulator and insurers require, and longer for immigration files where the status granted may need to be evidenced later; we will tell you the period that applies to your matter in our client care letter. Analytics data: as set out in the cookie policy.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, and ask for it to be transferred to another provider, in each case subject to the limits the law allows (for example, we cannot delete a client file we are required to keep). To exercise any right, email info@primussolicitors.com. We respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
